First the Flash and Then the Flood is a series of photography prints that were flooded in Hindman, Kentucky during the July 2022 flood. Thoroughbred is a photograph in a series of silver gelatin prints called Clarity. Clarity is a series of photographs shot on a 35mm film camera, then developed in a dark room. Clarity is a whimsical dreamlike series that blurs the line between dreaming and reality. Heavily relying on objects to create on scene filters and light flares, I take all aspects of the shoot into my own hands to truly create exactly what I am looking for rather than heavily relying on post edits to alter my image.

The post flood version of these photos brings a whole new meaning to the idea behind Clarity. Instead of creating a work of art in remembrance of the flood, I have scanned all of my original photography prints to showcase the powerful way art and community can be resilient through disaster while being forever changed.
